THE PENDLE MEDICAL PARTNERSHIP

Thank you for the interest you have shown in our advertisement for a GP to join our new venture. We are very pleased to hear from you.

The Pendle Medical Partnership is a new organisation which started on 1 July 2016. This is the result of a formal merger between two successful GP practices located on the Lancashire / Yorkshire border. Both Edward Street Surgery and Colne Corner Surgery are long-established practices with a strong emphasis on providing high quality, patient-centred care.

We are very conscious of the changes that are currently taking place in primary care, and in particular general practice. We believe that if we are to succeed in continuing to provide high quality care in the future, we need to think about how we can make the most of the limited resource that we have, both in terms of finance and workforce capacity, as well as our premises. We believe that working as one practice will place us in a much stronger position to ensure a better future for our patients and our staff.

A bit about us.

Edward Street Surgery is based in Earby on the Lancashire Yorkshire border with a patient list size of approximately 8000 patients. Working from purpose-built premises, the Practice has 5 GP partners, 3 Salaried GP’s and a full complement of practice support staff including a Practice Pharmacist. The practice is a training practice, holds the RCGP Quality Practice Award, and is actively involved in the Commissioning process as one of the partners, Dr Phil Huxley, is also the Chair of East Lancashire CCG.

Colne Corner Surgery is a small practice based in the market town of Colne in East Lancashire (not far from Earby). With a list size of 3400 patients, the practice moved premises in October 2014 into the new, state of the art, Colne Health Centre. The practice provides placements for the new Independent Medical School based at UCLAN, and has considerable involvement in the development of services for patients who live in the East of Pendle.

Both practices are high achievers in terms of QoF, other local and national performance measures, and patient satisfaction rates, and are keen to ensure that this continues.

Why a merger?

We believe that by more effectively sharing our experience and resources it will enable us to broaden the range of services available to patients at both sites, whilst still protecting continuity of care and ensuring the future viability of our practices.

As a larger practice we are able to offer increased opportunities for career development for our existing staff, with a greater emphasis on succession planning. We will also be able to develop a wider range of skills and incorporate new roles into our workforce than each practice is currently able to offer individually.

Medical education will remain an important feature of what we do, whilst opportunities to develop training for other staff groups will be an area we could be keen to develop.

Developing collaborative working with other local practices, as well as more integrated working with the wider primary healthcare team is also high on our agenda.

Together we will be able to achieve much more….

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a GP who would like to join our practice with a view to becoming a GP partner, for at least five sessions or more per week.

We are looking for a GP who shares our commitment to high quality patient care and who will join us in looking for new opportunities to improve and develop the services we can provide.

We are looking for a GP who is keen to be involved in medical education, and in ensuring that our practice continues to develop as a learning environment for all staff.

We are looking for a GP who will help us define the role of General Practice for the future.

What we can offer you

If you are keen to concentrate on providing high quality patient-centred general practice we would be keen to hear from you.

Equally, if you have a special interest in a particular area, whether it is MSK, Womens health, A&E, GP training, or primary care development, we have the experience and opportunities to offer you the career support you may be looking for.
